Intoduction:
Insulating oil being an efficient cooling medium with high dielectric
strength has been a recognized insulating medium in electrical
equipments. Degradation of oil takes place due to acids, oxidation,
sludge, gas and water absorption. A dielectric strength test shows
the changes caused in oil due to these processes. 'UDEY' Series
DOT insulating oil testers are designed to meet dielectric testing
specifications in all parts of the world. They are self-contained,
compact and portable, offering easy and accurate measurement of
the breakdown voltage of insulating oils used in transformers,
switchgears, circuit breakers, bushings, capacitors, and other
electrical apparatus. Safe and easy operation has made 'UDEY'
insulating oil testers the industry standard for over 47 years.
Control And Indicators:
UDEY insulating oil tester 'DOT series' has all
the controls and indicators located on a front panel with clear
and easy to understand legends. The output regulator (variable auto
transformer) supplying voltage to the high voltage transformer is
driven by a reversible motor. When HV is switched on, the output
voltage rises @ the rate selected till breakdown when the output
voltage falls and the output regulator returns to its minimum position.
The output voltage can be held at any level.
H T Transformer:
The HT transformer is a low distortion, completely
dry, resin encapsulated transformer with two HV terminals with mounting
saddles. The midpoint of transformer HV winding is grounded so that
the voltage of each terminal to earth is only half the test voltage.
Meter:
Bright and clear 3 Digit LED display kV meter in
the primary of the HV transformer is calibrated in terms of the
HV available at the secondary of the HV transformer. The meter is
calibrated by means of actual measurement on an electrostatic HV
meter and not by mere transformer turns ratio. kV meter memory circuit
locks the reading at breakdown and continuous to display the reading
till it is reset.

Safety:
Maximum possible safety of the operator as well
as the equipment is ensured by a safety conscious design. The output
controller is interlocked at its minimum position so that HV can
be switched ON only when it is at zero and the hood is shut. The
output controller is also interlocked at its maximum position to
avoid overriding of output drive. The output is automatically brought
to minimum after every test / breakdown. The hood leading to HV
terminals has a safety switch fitted so that opening of the hood
shuts the HV off.

Test Cell - TC - 2:
The test cell with cover is made of Methyle Methacrylate
(Acrylic) having effective oil volume between 300 to 500ml with
adjustable and removable 36mm mushroom electrodes to IEC 156 &
IS 6792 along with electrode gap distance 2.5mm GO & NOGO gauges,
made of alloy steel, precision ground and hardened.
